Project Title: UFCA Stretching Guideline
Duration: February – April 2023
Objective: To educate middle and high school student-athletes at United Faith Christian Academy (UFCA) on the importance of stretching, including proper techniques and timing, to enhance performance and reduce injuries.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Needs Analysis: Identified a high incidence of injuries among UFCA athletes, particularly basketball players, despite significant investment in their development.
- Instructional Design and Development:
- Employed the ADDIE model to structure the project, encompassing Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation phases.
- Conducted comprehensive problem, needs, and learner analyses to inform the design process.
- Developed a detailed design document outlining task and content analyses, setting clear goals and objectives, and creating assessment materials.
- Utilized a Gantt chart to manage project timelines and milestones.
- Content Creation:
- Designed and developed a dedicated website to serve as a self-paced learning platform for student-athletes.
- Created instructional videos using Canva, incorporating AI-generated voice narration to guide learners through stretching routines.
- Developed infographics and images to visually reinforce key concepts and techniques.
- Integrated interactive assessments using Wordwall to engage learners and evaluate understanding.
- Leveraged ChatGPT to assist in generating content ideas and refining instructional materials, ensuring clarity and engagement.
Outcomes:
- The initiative received positive feedback from both students and coaches, indicating an increased awareness of proper stretching techniques and their benefits.
- The project demonstrated the effective application of instructional design principles in a sports education context, leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes.
